Holiday Upgrades
Over the past holidays, we carried out various maintenance tasks. These included upgrading the camera system, replacing the pre-primary playground equipment, installing new glass bi-fold doors in the year six classrooms, and repainting and marking the senior kiss and drive bays. All these updates are aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and maintaining our facilities to a high standard.
Vale Mr Paul Wadell
Earlier this week, our school community received the sad news that one of our former principals, Mr Paul Waddell, had passed away after a long illness. Mr Waddell was the second principal of St Simon Peter from 1995 to 1997. He was an extremely popular figure and is fondly remembered by staff, parents, and former students. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends, including his nephew Mr Zac Waddell. May he rest in peace. We will share information about his funeral service once it is formally announced.
Anzac Day
This morning, we commemorated Anzac Day with a wonderful service prepared by 3 Blue. We are grateful to one of our parents, Matthew Cannon, a Flying Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force based at Pearce Air Base, for his participation.
Year 6 Camp
The Year 6 students have had a wonderful three-day camp at Ern Halliday experiencing teamwork and learning outside the classroom confines. A very big thank you to our staff whose organisation and preparation were outstanding and to the multitude of parent helpers who provided support over the last three days. The children have returned tired but with a wonderful learning experience.
Personal Mobile Devices
Lastly, a reminder about the use of mobile phones and smart watches at school. Please refer to our procedures on the use of personal mobile devices and the requirements for students to bring these to school. A link to the procedure can be found here.

God of love and liberty,
we thank you for the peace and security we enjoy.
It was won for us through the courage and devotion of those
who gave their lives in time of war.
We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain,
but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come.
We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus
and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The St Simon Peter students had a brilliant day at the NIPSSA Inter-school Swimming Carnival on Thursday 28th March. This was the first time St Simon Peter has competed against some other three stream schools in Padbury Catholic/Whitford Catholic/ Lake Joondalup Baptist/Peter Moyes/St Marks and St Stephens Carramar & Duncraig. All students representing St Simon Peter did a fantastic job and should be very proud of their efforts.
St Simon Peter ended up coming 7th out of 8 schools. LJBC ended up 1st, followed by Whitford Catholic in 2nd place. I have no doubt that this experience will help the students in their future preparation and give them an appetite for competing even harder in future carnivals. There were many individual outstanding results, along with some brilliant team relay results, however it is important to acknowledge all the students who represented and did their best for St Simon Peter Catholic Primary:

Our focus now turns to Cross Country in Term 2, and we will be continuing our running club program on Tuesday mornings from 7.40am to 8.10 and Thursday afternoons from 3.10pm to 3.40pm in Term 2. Our first running club session will begin on the Thursday of week 1, 18th April after school on Santiago Park from 3.10-3.40pm.
A big special thank you to staff and parents who assisted at the Inter-school Swimming Carnival, we honestly could not have run such a successful Carnival without your assistance.
