In 2023, we asked parents their thoughts on school communication. Many expressed the need to streamline information about the school as a key improvement area. Over the past few weeks, the school has undertaken significant work concerning our digital presence as part of our broader work regarding school marketing
Our focus has been on establishing consistent branding and clearly defined responsibilities for the school's communication platforms including those managed by current parents. An audit of previous pages revealed that several were managed by individuals no longer affiliated with the school. For the sake of our school community, these pages must be managed by those currently connected to our school.
As part of this process, the FSSP pages and the Hope/year level pages will now fit under this responsibility which still sits with current parents and is supported by the school. We understand and appreciate that numerous parents have volunteered to administer these pages, and we are truly grateful for their time and expertise the school will continue to provide support whenever it is required.
The school also oversees any social media pages that use the school logo, directly refer to the school, or use information provided by the school as the symbols and name belong to the school and therefore fall under its responsibility.
Please note that any pages not directly linked from the FSSP page are neither authorised by nor affiliated with the school.
The carpark at the western side of the school has clearly marked areas for disability or ACROD parking. We continue to have individuals who do not have this level of access believe that it is appropriate to use these bays as they are only going to be a short time or that there are no other bays. These clearly marked blue bays with the ACROD symbol are for those in the school who require them to be used due to a physical disability. We understand that there is limited parking around the school and we need adults to make better choices around the use of the car park spaces to ensure that those who require these special parking areas can access them. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring these bays remain available for those with a need to access them.
Warm regards

Social Worker News - Girl Power
We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of our Girlpower group, which commenced in Term 1 and ran for 8 weeks during school time.
This program was developed and facilitated by our Social Worker, Ms Mary with support from Mrs Sontay. Ms Mary designed it specifically for girls aged 9-11, aiming to build resilience, boost self-confidence, and conquer anxiety.
In today's world, young girls face numerous stressors and challenges that can lead to feelings of worry and fear. Our Girlpower program provided a safe and nurturing environment where girls can learn valuable skills to manage and overcome adversity while fostering a supportive peer community. Over the course of 8 weeks, participants engaged in activities, discussions, and practical strategies that equipped them with the tools needed to navigate life's ups and downs with courage and resilience. Each week offered new insights and opportunities for personal growth, covering topics such as:
- Understanding the roots of anxiety
- Developing mindfulness practices
- Building healthy friendships
- Positive self-talk
- Coping skills
- Problem-solving techniques
We are super proud of the girls and their achievements.
We are already at capacity for our next group which is commencing in Week 9. But if you think your daughter would benefit from this program and is in Year 4/5 please get in touch with Mary Lynch - mary.lynch@cewa.edu.au

Reminder - Traffic Management Procedures
- Please DO NOT PARK OR LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED whilst in the Kiss n Ride areas. If you need to go to the school, please use the car park. No parking on the footpath, this is monitored by the City of Joondalup Rangers.
- Please DO NOT PARK IN THE ALLOCATED DISABLED CAR BAYS unless you have an ACROD permit. These bays are monitored by the City of Joondalup Rangers.
- NO RIGHT TURN into or out of the school on Prendiville Avenue. This allows for safe movement around the school and continues traffic flow..
- At the 3.00 pm pick-up, please ensure that you are not jumping the queue by turning right in front of parents who have been sitting in the queue, sometimes for quite a while. Use the traffic circle and join the end of the queue.
- Please do not form a second queue at Senior or Junior Kiss n Ride. This causes traffic congestion at an already dangerous point with cars traveling back and forth and parents crossing the road amongst all the traffic. If required, do a loop around the block and re-join the back of the line.
- Once in the pick-up area, please move as far forward as possible into the next available bay, and always try to consider the parent behind you. Parents should not get out of their cars at any time.
- Staff supervises the Kiss n Ride areas as part of our duty of care – Instances of ‘car park rage’ or abuse directed to our staff will be reported and followed up with the School’s Leadership Team.
- Follow the CITY OF JOONDALUP FAQ regarding parking and movement around Prendiville College and St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School We thank you for your cooperation in using this procedure correctly and always ensuring the safety of children.
The following are new procedures from the commencement of the 2024 school year.
- The car park between the church and the school will remain closed for the movement of traffic between 3:00pm and 3:15pm each afternoon to allow the smooth and safe movement of traffic through the junior pick-up line. Parents and visitors are still able to park in this area but will be unable to enter or exit this space between the 15 minute window at the end of the school day.
- The lane leading down to the child care from Gate 1 will no longer be open except for the movement of school vehicles. This has been undertaken due to safety concerns where both vehicles and pedestrians were using the same access. Gate One will remain partially open for pedestrian access only.
