- Parent TV - What To Expect From Your 8-Year-Old: Their Brain & Behaviour
As we begin the second half of the school year, we extend a warm welcome to all families, including those who have recently joined us. It's essential at this point to ensure everyone is familiar with our school's day-to-day drop-off and pick-up routines.
We kindly remind all families to refer to our Parent Handbook, accessible on our school website, for detailed information regarding these routines and other important aspects of school operations. The handbook covers various essential topics that contribute to the smooth functioning of our school community.
School gates do not open until 8:15am each morning. Please do not use gate 2 at any time unless you are dropping off or picking up children from OSHC. Gates except for the main administration gate will close at 8:40am each day which requires students who arrive after this time to go through the administration office so they can be signed in.
School finishes promptly at 3:00pm each day. To facilitate smooth departure and ensure safety, gates for entry via gate 3 and gate 9 will open just before the end of school.
Vehicles using the pick up lines should only enter both lines by turning left by driving east towards Marmion avenue on Prendiville avenue. Do not turn right at any time during drop off or pick up times.
To allow for the smooth movement of traffic in the afternoon, the car park north of the church will remain blocked to all traffic until the pick up line is close to empty or 3:15pm, whichever occurs first. This barrier should not be interfered with by any person.
Please check the traffic movement page on our website for further information regarding parking and car movement around the school.
During the school holidays a number of maintenance items were completed, including landscaping near gate 11 including steps, the removal of defunct security cameras and the replacement of external lighting and the installation of car park lighting in both the church and senior car park.
These upgrades are part of our overall school maintenance plan and ongoing efforts to create a safer environment for all members of our school community, especially during darker hours. Whether it's families attending after-hours meetings or events, our OSHC and ELC programs, or our dedicated cleaners, these improvements aim to enhance safety and accessibility across our school site.
We look forward to the postponed St Simon Peter day events tomorrow. Although there is some possibility for light rain, the forcast is much better than the original day in June. The children are really excited to participate and we hope you are able to join them.
Warm regards
Peter Cutrona

URSTRONG's Friendology 101 curriculum is dedicated to enhancing the social and emotional learning and well-being of our students by teaching vital friendship skills. This program provides children with a common language to confidently manage conflicts and fosters a culture rooted in respect and kindness. By empowering boys and girls with the skills and self-confidence to develop healthier relationships, URSTRONG is truly transformative and will be rolled out to our students during Pastoral care throughout the year.
URSTRONG collaborates with parents and educators to ensure a comprehensive, whole-school approach, making it a community effort.
Yesterday’s assembly saw the Friendship Ninjas hijack the stage, dazzling our students with cartwheels, rolls, and high kicks! They brought their vibrant energy and enthusiasm, turning the assembly into a lively and interactive experience. The Friendship Ninjas then engaged everyone with a pop quiz, involving the whole school in an enigmatic performance that showcased our SSP students' growing knowledge of URSTRONG principles.
Stay tuned for more exciting URSTRONG content as we continue to build a stronger, more connected school community!
Are you leaving SSP at the end of this year? If you have a child in a class other than Year 6 and you will not be returning to SSP in 2025, you are required to advise the school's Enrolment Officer by no later than Friday 20 September 2024. These details can be emailed to Helen.florschutz@cewa.edu.au.
The school’s policy states any student leaving the school needs to provide a term’s notice in writing, addressed to the Principal. Failure to provide sufficient notice may mean you will be liable to pay fees for Term 1 2025.

The theme this year is; Reading is Magic.
The Costume parade is scheduled for Wednesday 21st August. 9.00am
With our 2024 Children's Book Week theme; Reading is Magic, we're celebrating reading stories and their amazing power to transport minds. We are encouraging kids to be curious about the wonders in our world. It is a positive and affirming message for our young people. The magic of reading also lies in its power of enticement; a good story provokes conversations. Talking about the stories with others connects the reader with other readers. Wrapped around all of this are the "tricks" and skills of our amazing writers and illustrators, as they use all their powers of language and illustration to engage the reader in this world they are building.
Check out this video to help you get a feeling about the theme. https://youtu.be/kMokHCyJsjk
