What a year of learning it has been at SSP. As we reflect on the year, there are many highlights. These include many excursions and incursions and the introduction of the 1:1 iPad project in Year 4. Then there is all the diverse, creative and interesting learning in the day to day life of the school.
Interschool Cricket Carnival 2018
Students from Year 6 participated in the annual Interschool Cricket Carnival last Friday. The carnival was held at the Wanneroo District Cricket Club, Kingsway Sporting Grounds and eight schools from our sporting association competed in a boys and a girls section. Both of our teams played five games during the day.
It was a great day of fun, camaraderie and big hits. The girls won 3 from 5 games and the boys won 4 from 5 - narrowly losing 1 game by only 3 runs. The highlight of the day was Bella Hill’s direct hit run out from side on 30 metres from the stumps. The celebration was up there as well!
There was plenty of support from parents who came along to help and cheer, and a special mention goes to Adam King who umpired a couple of games for the boys.
Thank you to Mr Lamont for looking after the teams on the day. The players are listed below:
Staff v Students Basketball Game
Yesterday we enjoyed watching the annual SSP Staff v Students basketball game at lunch time. It was highly competitive and filled with many displays of pure athleticism.
Well done to all players involved for putting in an awesome effort and showing great team work. Even though it was a very close game, the (heavily stacked) Staff team ended up bringing home the win by a mere basket.
The lost property in the Student Services Office has certainly built up over this term. If your child is missing any of their uniform items, please ensure that you visit the Student Services Office to check if it is in there.
Please note all school uniform clothing items currently in lost property, that are not collected by the end of the term, will go to the Uniform Shop for sorting.
All drink bottles and plastic containers will be disposed of.
All other clothing items (currently in the plastic tub outside the Student Services Office) that are not collected by the end of term will be donated to a charity.

This Friday, 30 November 2018, parents will be able to access their child's class list for 2019. Many hours of work have gone into the construction of next year's classes with many factors, requests and arrangements from staff, students and parents being considered.
This year parents will be able to access the class lists two different ways:
1 Using the school App, Schoolzine, as a notification. You will need this App on a device. Please follow the links below to download the App if you haven't already:
- Android Google Play Store Link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pidigi.schoolzine
- Apple App Store Link - https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/szapp/id982105479?mt=8
2 Using SEQTA with your login details (username and password) just as you do when accessing your student Semester Report.
In 2019 class list information will only be available on the school App.
Transition
To assist the students with transition to a new class, with new friends and a new teacher/s, we will have our annual transition session on Monday 3 December 2018 from 11.15am to 12.15pm. Students will go to their new classroom and spend time getting to know their teacher, where possible, and peers. This has proven to be a wonderful ‘ice breaker’ in the past.

We welcomed parishioners and aged care residents to watch the nativity followed by a morning tea. This is a great example of bringing our community together during this special time of the year.
Loving God, as we begin our Advent journey, let us be guided by the light of your word to open the darkness in our lives.
Through hope, let us be open in accepting your love and healing power so that our lives and the world we live in are at the peace and freedom you grant us. Come Lord Jesus, we await your coming.
Amen
The candle of hope. Our hope is that we are prepared for the coming of Christ. We light the first candle, the candle of hope, to express our longing for peace, for healing and the well-being of all creation.
