Unwell Students
A MESSAGE FROM MR BAKER
Parents are reminded that they should keep their children home if they are unwell and that if your child fits the below criteria, you should take your child to the doctor to be tested for COVID-19.
Unfortunately, our School Nurses are having to call parents on a regular basis as children are coming to school with a sore throat and/or a cough and have not seen a doctor. When parents are asked to pick their child up, some are unhappy about this and state “it’s just a cold”. We remind you that we are still in a Pandemic and that unless your child has seen a doctor, who either gives them a COVID-19 test or gives them a diagnosis of something else, then your child should not be at school as per Health Department guidelines.
Coronavirus can cause a range of symptoms. These can range from mild illness to pneumonia. If you experience any of the below symptoms, no matter how mild, please get a COVID-19 test.
- fever of 37.5°C or above OR fever in the last few days (for example, night sweats or chills), without a known source
OR - have acute respiratory symptoms (for example, coughing, shortness of breath, sore throat)
OR - acute (sudden) loss of smell or taste
Your cooperation is appreciated.
